The onboard train control system is one of the important technical equipment for China’s  railway lines and to ensure safety of passenger railway lines. The core objective of the system is to supervise the operating speed of trains in real-time, and automatically control the train’s braking system based on the train’s operating restrictions to prevent trains from over-speeding. 

Leveraging on the Ministry of Railways’ campaign to introduce key technology and encourage production of such equipment in Mainland China itself, HollySys implemented the transfer of CRH EMU(China Railway High-speed Electric Multiple Units) train control vehicle system technology for production in China, and successfully realised the production of the CTCS2-200H onboard train control system in Mainland China. HollySys currently has the supply capacity to produce around 200 sets per year, and the loading and transport technical service capabilities for around 100 sets. The equipment has been in use since the beginning of the 6th major railway acceleration on 18 Apr 2007, when the EMU commenced commercial operations officially at 9 railway bureaus including the Beijing Railway Bureau, Shanghai Railway Bureau, and Guangzhou Railway (Group), which received widespread praise from users.   

The CTCS3-300S model and CTCS3-300H model of onboard train control systems were originally based on technology imported by HollySys and now produced in Mainland China. The CTCS-3 onboard train control system is able to satisfy the operating requirements of 300-350km/h, an important constituent of the “300-350km/h passenger line technology system” created by the Ministry of Railways with China-originated intellectual property rights, scoring project implementation success stories for HollySys, which possesses the world’s most advanced train control technology.

CTCS-H onboard train control system

The CTCS-H onboard train control system was developed with intellectual property rights by HollySys Group based on China’s CTCS technology standards. Its key task is to supervise the operating speed of trains in real-time, and prevent the train from over-speeding based on the train’s operating restrictions to automatically control the train’s braking system. 

CTCS2-200Honboard train control system

The CTCS2-200H onboard train control system was developed by HollySys Group based on China’s CTCS technology standards. It was successfully produced in China after the technology was imported and re-innovated. Currently, more than 500 sets of train control systems (ATP) are operating successfully under railway bureaus (Groups) such as the Beijing Railway Bureau, Shanghai Railway Bureau, Guangzhou Railway (Group), Chengdu Railway Bureau, Zhengzhou Railway Bureau, Wuhan Railway Bureau, Nanchang Railway Bureau, and Xi’an Railway Bureau, providing effective protection for the proper and safe operations of EMUs.

CTCS3-300Sonboard train control system

The CTCS3-300S onboard train control system was developed by HollySys in line with requirements under China’s CTCS-3 train control technology standards. It was successfully produced in China after the technology was imported, and the acquisition of new technology from other countries is still in progress to improve existing systems in China. The CTCS3-300S onboard train control system is a CTCS-3 train control system that is able to satisfy operating requirements of 300-350km/h. Currently, the CTCS3-300S onboard train control system is operating successfully on lines such as the Zhengxi Passenger Line, Wuguang Passenger Line, Huning Inter-city Railway, and the Huhang Passenger Line. The system has fully realised interactivity between different ground technology platforms, effectively ensuring flexible scheduling of EMUs, cross-railway operations, and extended route operations.   

CTCS3-300H onboard train control system

The CTCS3-300H onboard train control system was developed by HollySys in line with requirements under China’s CTCS-3 train control technology standards. It was successfully produced in China after the technology was imported, and the acquisition of new technology from other countries is still in progress to improve existing systems in China. The CTCS3-300H onboard train control system is a CTCS-3 train control system that is able to satisfy operating requirements of 300-350km/h. Currently, the CTCS3-300H onboard train control system is operating commercially along the Guangshengang passenger line.

BTM-hs balise transmission system

The BTM-hs balise transmission system is a safety transmission system that transmits safety-related data between the trackside equipment and the onboard train control system. The safety integrity level is SIL4, and the performance is compliant with Subset-036 standards.
